Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to all quotations, works and services provided by Church’s Electrical (“we”, “our”, “us”) to the Client (“you”).
1. Quotations
1.1 Quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated in writing.
1.2 Prices are based on works carried out during normal working hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm) unless otherwise agreed.
1.3 Quotations are based on information provided at the time of pricing. We reserve the right to amend where errors, omissions or unforeseen site conditions arise.
2. Scope of Works & Variations
2.1 Our quotation includes only the works specifically detailed within it.
2.2 Any additional works requested, required due to site conditions, or identified during installation shall be treated as a variation and charged accordingly.
2.3 We will notify you of additional costs before proceeding where reasonably practicable.
3. Materials & Price Variations
3.1 Material costs are subject to supplier price increases beyond our control.
3.2 Where significant increases occur after quotation acceptance but before installation, we reserve the right to adjust the contract price with written notice.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 A deposit of up to 30% may be required prior to commencement of works.
4.2 Where the Client operates a purchase order system, a valid Purchase Order (PO) must be provided prior to commencement of works. If a PO is required, it must be issued before works begin. We reserve the right to delay or suspend works until a valid PO is received.
4.3 The balance is due on completion or within 30 days of invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4.4 We reserve the right to suspend works where payments become overdue.
4.5 For commercial clients, late payments may incur interest and compensation in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
4.6 For domestic clients, we reserve the right to charge reasonable interest on overdue sums where permitted by law.
5. Certification
Electrical certificates, Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and compliance documentation will be issued once full payment has been received.
6. Access & Site Conditions
6.1 Quotations assume safe, clear and uninterrupted access to the work area.
6.2 Delays, restricted access, return visits or aborted visits not caused by us may incur additional charges.
6.3 Unless expressly stated, quotations exclude:
Scaffolding or specialist access equipment
Builders’ works and making good
Decoration
Asbestos removal or hazardous material handling
7. Cancellations & Consumer Cooling-Off Rights
7.1 Where you are a domestic customer and the contract is agreed off-premises (including in your home, online or by telephone), you have the right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
7.2 If you request works to commence within the 14-day cancellation period, you may be liable for reasonable costs incurred up to the date of cancellation.
7.3 Cancellations within 24 hours of confirmed booking may be charged in full where materials or labour have been allocated.
8. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
We will carry out services with reasonable care and skill and supply materials that are of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.
9. Retention of Title
All materials supplied remain our property until paid for in full.
10. Warranty
10.1 We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty from the completion date.
10.2 Manufacturer warranties apply to materials supplied.
10.3 Warranty does not cover:
Misuse or neglect
Third-party interference
Fair wear and tear
Pre-existing faults not related to our works
11. Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)
11.1 An EICR reflects the condition of the installation at the time of inspection in accordance with current regulations (BS 7671).
11.2 Booking an EICR does not guarantee a satisfactory outcome.
C1 – Danger Present
C1 observations indicate immediate danger. Where reasonably practicable, the installation will be made safe at the time of inspection and charged accordingly.
C2 – Potentially Dangerous
C2 observations indicate potential danger and will result in an unsatisfactory report. A quotation for remedial works will be issued.
C3 – Improvement Recommended
C3 observations indicate that improvement is recommended but do not affect the overall satisfactory outcome of the report.
FI – Further Investigation
FI observations indicate further investigation is required and will result in an unsatisfactory report. Additional investigative works will be quoted separately and charged accordingly.
Limitations
EICRs are visual and non-destructive unless agreed otherwise. Concealed wiring, inaccessible areas, fixed floor coverings and hidden defects are excluded.
12. Commercial EICR Pricing
For commercial premises, pricing is based on a cost per circuit as stated in the quotation.
Any additional circuits identified on site exceeding the quoted allowance will be charged accordingly.
It is the Client’s responsibility to provide accurate circuit information at quotation stage.
13. Liability
13.1 We maintain Public Liability Insurance of £5,000,000 and Professional Indemnity Insurance of £250,000.
13.2 Our total liability for any claim arising from the contract shall not exceed:
The contract value; or
The applicable insurance limit held at the time of the claim,
whichever is lower.
13.3 We shall not be liable for indirect, consequential or business losses including loss of profit, revenue or opportunity.
13.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot legally be excluded under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977.
14. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including supplier shortages, adverse weather, power outages or government restrictions.
15. Complaints
15.1 If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our work, please notify us in writing within 14 days of becoming aware of the issue.
15.2 We will investigate the matter promptly and aim to resolve the issue fairly and within a reasonable timeframe.
15.3 Where a resolution cannot be agreed and the work falls under a Competent Person Scheme; you may refer the matter to our scheme provider where applicable.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
